Tórshavn is one of the world’s smallest capitals, beautifully situated at the foot of the surrounding mountains with a panoramic view of the island Nólsoy. The town was founded in 825 AD and named after the Nordic god Thor.
When we walk through the old part of town, Reyn and Tinganes, you can experience small houses, narrow streets and grass roofs.
We visit the village of Kirkjubø, the medieval cultural and church center. There we have the Wall, the remains of a magnificently planned cathedral, as well as St. Olav church and the King’s Garden, the former bishop's seat. St. Olav Church was built in the 1100s.
